Andrew first took to the stage at college in 1981. He played 3 small roles in Zigger Zagger. This was soon followed by the lead role in Whose Life Is It Anyway? And the lead role in a short film.
After college, Andrew concentrated on other work away from acting. He worked in restaurant kitchens, business offices, spent a short period as a chauffeur and a year as a motorbike despatch rider in London. He was a soldier in the army for 9 years: from 1980 to 1984 as a part-time soldier and then full-time until 1989. Having married in 1987, Andrew took the decision to leave the army and pursued a career in Engineering for Air Traffic Control. Whilst working, he also studied and obtained a first class degree in Engineering and IT and then became a Project Manager and later an Engineering Manager for Air Traffic Control systems.
In 2004 Andrew was sent to work in Madrid for 6 months. This eventually became an 8 year assignment.
In 2006, a friend of the family, who was directing Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” in Madrid, mentioned he needed someone to play the role of Conrade. Andrew’s name was suggested and he took on the role. His enthusiasm for acting was instantly reactivated.
Andrew started travelling back to London to attend training courses for acting. He attended an acting masterclass, one week course at the “London Academy Of Media, Film and Television” and other one day workshops with other academies. He continued acting on stage in Madrid and also acted as the sole protagonist in TV commercial and played a small part in an episode of “Los Exitosos Pells”, a Spanish comedy series.
Returning to England in 2012, Andrew continued to act, on stage and on film, fitting it around his day job. He also attended more workshops, including a weekend with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2015 and 2016 he was accepted onto the summer training courses at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, one of the top drama schools in the UK. At the ned of the 2016 summer course, Andrew auditioned for and was accepted onto the one year “Showcase” course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and graduated in the summer of 2017.
Andrew has acted in many plays, with lead and supporting roles. The wide range of plays has covered classic plays by Shakespeare, Chekov and Ibsen as well as modern plays. Andrew has also been the lead role in several short films.
Andrew has also narrated and produced audiobooks for both adults and children.
Andrew moved back to Madrid in July 2021 and is keen to continue acting.
