Dulcie Smart Actress
Dulcie Smart is a New Zealand-born actress based in Berlin. She began her career as a stage actress in Wellington, playing lead roles in Shakespeare and Chekhov as well as in contemporary drama by e.g. David Hare, Caryl Churchill, Louis Nowra and Lanford Wilson. She moved to Germany in 1991. Dulcie Smart has played a broad range of roles in film and TV productions working with directors including the Wachowskis, Tom Tykwer, Margarethe von Trotta and Mike Newell for companies based in New Zealand, Germany, the UK and Canada. She appears as herself in the documentary Krzysztof Kieslowski: A Masterclass for Young Directors. Dulcie Smart is one of Germany's top English-language voice actors. She works in various US & British accents, as well as Australian and NZ accents, also English with German and Eastern European accents and German with eg UK, US, Australian, Irish accents.
In 2021, Variety Magazine described Dulcie Smart's 16 minute one-shot scene in Dietrich Brüggemann's feature NÖ - as a 'discomforting highlight'.
