Vita Smachelyuk is a Ukrainian actress based in Germany, working in film, television, and theatre across four languages.
Trained at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University, she has accumulated 35+ screen credits over a 20-year career spanning Ukrainian television, European art-house cinema, and the stage — including productions of Brecht, Wilde, Shakespeare, and Bach at Kyiv's Atelier-16 and The Free Theatre.
She won the Czech Film Critics' Award for Best Actress for her lead role in Michal Blaško's Victim (2022), which premiered in Venice (Horizons), screened at TIFF, and served as Slovakia's official Oscar submission. Her latest credit, the short Critical Condition (dir. Mila Zhluktenko), had its world premiere at La Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2025, produced by Michael Kalb Filmproduktion with BR and ARTE.
She performs in Ukrainian, Russian, Czech, and German.
